Is Time Flying By?

Does it seem to you that time is being speeded up?  I even hear young people and children saying that they cannot believe how fast the time is going.  I don’t know about you, but I never said that when I was a child.  I couldn’t wait to graduate, become an adult, get married, have children, and be old enough to enter the ministry.  When the youth of today are speaking of time racing, something is going on.

The Bible says, in Matt: 22-24“And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; in so much that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. “

I heard a Bible prophecy teacher speaking of time being compressed in this hour, for our sakes.  He has spoken to scientists and physicists who have confirmed that such a thing is possible.  I realize that it sounds like some sci-fi movie, but we are living in the day where a lot of supernatural things are happening as things are coming to a close.

The speeding up of time is actually for our sakes.  It is to make sure that we do not become deceived and that we finish our race.  That tells me that deception will become more and more pronounced as the coming of The Lord approaches.  It tells me that the world and some of the church will become caught up in it.  It also tells me that if time were not shortened, even the elect would fall into it.

I used to think this verse meant that The Lord would speed up the date of His return.  I have come to realize that the date has already been set.  He knew ahead of time what we would face.  He hasn’t been surprised by it or changed His appointment because of it.  It is set and no one, or nothing will change it.

If time is being compressed, what does that mean for us?  As never before, we must make it count.  Hebrews 12:1“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”  There isn’t much time in a race, so you have to run to win, with everything you have.  When this short life is over, we will have all of eternity to rejoice, enjoy the fruit of our labor, and fellowship.  This life is a race to the finish line.  1 Cor. 9:24 says,  “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain”.  If you are going to run, it’s all about priorities.  Even the training is about priorities.  It’s hard to run if you are distracted and do not prioritize.  Luke 14: 27-28 (KJV) says,  27 “And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.   For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?”  Lastly, Phil. 3:13-14 says, “I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
For a runner to run to win, he or she has to strip themselves of any unnecessary equipment and clothing, never look to the left or right, never look back, and keep their eyes focused on the finish line.  Nothing else matters.  He is there to finish and finish well.

Time is short and getting shorter.  We are almost home.  Don’t quit now.  Only that which is done for eternity will last.  Our homes and gardens won’t matter.  Our occupations and bank accounts will not be there.  We don’t have much time left.  Let’s win souls, the only thing we will have to lay at His feet, get the job done, and go on up to be with Him.   I’ll see you in the air.  Soon and very soon, we are going to see The King.
