The Anointing (Part 1 of 6)

I have decided to write a few blogs on one of my favorite subjects, The Anointing of The Holy Ghost.  This is a very misunderstood subject and a very needed one.  The anointing is something that we should all desire, operate in within the giftings God has given us, be able to recognize when we see it, should be able to increase in, and should never be satisfied to live without.

Why should we desire it?  The reason is that anything done outside of the anointing is mere religion.  Religion, by itself, will bring bondage, death, and destruction.  When the anointing breathes upon a song, testimony, sermon, or program, it brings life and healing.  Anything we try to accomplish without the anointing, is dead.  Zechariah 4:6 (KJV) says, “So he answered and said to me:  'This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:  ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.

There is only one thing the enemy of our souls, the devil, respects and that is the anointing.  He will let you have a message, preach anything, as long as there is no anointing upon it.  He doesn’t care if you lay hands on people, if you have no anointing.  The anointing will cause damage to his kingdom.

We are not ministering to intellect, but to hearts.  God is Spirit, and we minister spirit to minister.  We worship Him spirit to Spirit.  People are changed from the inside out.

It is so important that we pursue the anointing.  How much do you want?  It all depends on what you want to have and do with it.  The prophet Ezekiel talked about a river that was ankle deep, waist deep, or over the head.  It’s a choice.  To pursue means to chase after at any cost.  Yes, operating in strong anointing will cost you everything.  That sweet presence of The Lord, lives being forever changed, and people restored, is well worth it.  We must have the anointing to get the job done.  In our lives & ministries,  anything the devil tries to put on us will be destroyed because of the anointing.

We are protective of the anointing.  We won’t allow “just anything”.  We must tell people that after they have drunk of that living water, they must not go back to the swamp of religion or the muddy streams of flakiness.  Every manifestation is not a sign of anointing.  We believe in freedom, that is, Holy Spirit freedom.  However, that is not fleshly freedom or demonic freedom or false doctrine freedom.

These next few blogs will be a “school of The Spirit” in the area of the anointing.  We will continue to go deeper into pursuing the anointing with each one.  Do not miss next week’s entry.
